Who Doesn't Like Mormons?

(Week of 6/16/2012) More than a quarter of Americans say they have an unfavorable opinion of Mitt Romney’s co-religionists, and the latest Economist/YouGov Poll suggests that many of those who are unfavorable are those whose votes the presumptive presidential nominee will need to win the fall election.

30% of Democrats and even more liberals (36%) are unfavorable towards Mormons, but Romney is unlikely to get many votes from these groups. But around one in five Republicans and conservatives, and one in three independents are also negative. So are 18% of those who identify with the Tea Party. And those who are most and least religious, groups that often differ dramatically in their political opinions, are both more unfavorable than favorable towards those who practice Romney’s religion.
