(Week of 3/9/2013) American opinion about the government spending cuts required by the sequester that began just over a week ago hasn’t changed as those cuts have started to have an impact. Just as in last week’s Economist/YouGov Poll, about half think their family will be affected, but only one in five expect a major impact.

There is more concern about the military feeling the impact of the cuts: in fact, more than half the public (57%) would exempt the military from the sequester cuts.

The President’s approval has yet to suffer much from the sequester, and the latest jobs report, out last Friday, may also have helped. In this week’s poll, 49% approve of how he is handling his job, and 46% disapprove.
