Lazy, late people who curse are America's least favorite co-workers, while jobs that would make you wear a hat or hairnet are the ones to be avoided
Work can be stressful at the best of times, but the fact that we don't get to choose our co-workers can cause endless frustration and annoyance. Only the saints among us haven't occasionally wished that federal regulations prohibited talking in ear-ringing voices about last night's episode of Survivor while you are trying to work, but what exactly does annoy Americans the most when they are trying to bring earn their living?
The latest research from YouGov shows that lateness is the worst offense in the eyes of the public, with 50% of Americans choosing it as one of the three things that annoy them most in the workplace. This is closely followed by 'visibly slacking off' (43%) and cursing (40%). Interestingly, while for most of these annoyances similar numbers of Americans find them to be poor behavior regardless of gender, region or politics, cursing is the only one where women (46%) are much more likely than men (34%) to have a problem with it.
When asked about preferred dress codes at work, Americans generally say that they wouldn't mind working in places that require employees to dress in certain ways. The least favorite option, however, is working somewhere that requires employees to wear a hat or a hairnet, with 36% of people saying that they would not want to work there. 34% of men say that they would prefer not to work in a suit, compared to only 19% of women who wouldn't want to work somewhere than required them to wear a women's suit. Women were, however, particularly opposed to working somewhere where they would be required to wear a skirt or dress to work.
