What women want from VR: health, shopping, and social media
Beyond games intended for young men, new data shows which VR applications interest women and older Americans most
Every quarter YouGov surveys almost 3,000 people to find out more about Virtual Reality.
Our survey respondents give good grades to the technology--most say VR is either Good to Go or Almost There. They also made light of concerns that have been raised about discomfort, fears of isolation or addiction. Their biggest concern about VR is cost.
Our surveys show that 90% of the public is aware of virtual reality (compared to about 55% for its sister technology augmented reality). The surveys also extrapolates market penetration and think VR ownership will grow from about 14 million in the US to close to 30 million by the end of January 2017.
YouGov is conducting the online survey every three months. The respondents are U.S. members of the YouGov online panel and results were weighted to reflect the US adult population as of the most recent Census.
