St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by the Irish and Irish at heart with parades and music, the "wearin' of the green," and the sharing of Irish food and drink.

Ahead of the big event on March 17th BrandIndex looked at top buzz scores for beer and spirits around the country and drilled down to a handful of US cities famous for their St Patrick's Day events. Buzz scores have all been measured using the last 4 weeks of buzz data.

Beer brands with the top buzz nationwide are Samuel Adams, Budweiser and Bud Light. The top three beer buzz scorers for New York and Boston are identical, with Samuel Adams, Guinness and Corona the top three in that order. However, Boston's buzz numbers are much higher than New York's with Boston's Samuel Adams buzz score reaching a high 47. Chicago buzz scores favor Heineken, Budweiser and Miller Lite.

Buzz scores for favorite spirits are dependent on geography. Top 3 national buzz leaders for spirits are Jack Daniel's, Baileys and Captain Morgan. However top buzz winners by location are Jack Daniel's in New York, Grey Goose in Boston and Los Angeles and Absolut in Chicago.

All brands were measured using their buzz score, which asks respondents: "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, was it positive or negative?"
