Expedia and Priceline have built their travel-booking brands for years, but now Travelzoo is ready for take-off. Travelzoo’s first-ever TV campaign, launched in the thick of pre-summer vacation planning in mid-May, has brought the site’s word of mouth measurement closer to its rivals.

Over its three-week run, TravelZoo’s adult 18+ Buzz score has moved from a lackluster zero to come fairly close to Expedia and Priceline. Both of those brands experienced a pre-Memorial Day perception bump too, but have not been able to sustain it, while TravelZoo has remained elevated and steady behind them.

Set to Toni Basil’s 80s cheerleading anthem hit “Mickey,” the ad promotes the site’s weekly Top 20 best travel and entertainment deals.

TravelZoo, Expedia and Priceline were measured using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score, which asks respondents: "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, was it positive or negative?"
