(Week of 9/1/2012) The two men at the bottom of this year’s presidential tickets — Vice President Joe Biden and GOP vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan — are not necessarily loved by the public, according to the latest Economist/YouGov Poll, but Ryan is definitely viewed as more sincere.

Americans think Vice President Biden is more likely to say what he really believes than what he thinks the public wants to hear, but only by a narrow margin. That margin of sincerity is much wider for his Republican opponent. But both men are seen as more sincere than either presidential candidate.

When it comes to favorability and likeability, there is less difference between the two. One in three dislike each of them, and among the public overall, slightly more are unfavorable than favorable.
