Men want nude photos, women don't

A third of under-30s have nudes of themselves and men are much more likely than women to like it if they received naked photos

Since the advent of the smartphone we are taking more photographs than ever, and more risqué photos too. In 2014 hundreds of nude photos of celebrities were leaked to the public, highlighting the privacy risks of nude photography, but for young Americans in particular nude photos are often a normal part of dating today.

Age isn't the only dividing line when it comes to naked photos. Research from YouGov shows that men are significantly more likely than women to say that they would like it if they received naked photos from a romantic partner. Most men (52%) say that they would like it, while only 21% of women say the same. 32% of men say that they wouldn't like it, compared to 64% of women.

Younger Americans are significantly more likely than older Americans to say that they would like it, too. 51% of under-30s would want nudes, and 47% of people aged 30 to 44, but only 27% of people aged 45-64 would be happy to receive naked photos.

The proliferation of nudes might be a recent development but cheap cameras have been available for decades. Despite this younger Americans are a lot more likely to admit to having taken naked photos. 32% of under-30s and 28% of people aged 30 to 44 have ever taken naked photos, compared to only 11% of over-65s.
