Twenty-eight (28) percent of US consumers were Coca Cola customers in the past 30 days, compared to 20% for Pepsi. Just behind Pepsi is Gatorade (19%). Dr. Pepper (15%) and Arizona Ice Tea (14%) follow right behind.

However, none of those brands were able to increase their current customer share by a statistically significant margin during this past June compared to the same month last year.

The four beverage brands which made the biggest current customer gains June to June were Canada Dry, Sunny D and 7UP (all three up two percentage points or more), and coconut water product Vita Coca (up more than one percentage point).

At 11%, Canada Dry has the twelfth highest amount of current customers, Sunny D comes in 23rd with 9%, and 7UP ranks 19th with more than 9%.

A few middle-of-the-pack brands shed statistically significant amounts of current customers -- Capri Sun, Nestea and Barq’s – while the once hot SoBe Life Water lost enough to rank 74 out of the 87 brands tracked.

YouGov BrandIndex compared the current customer data for 87 major beverages for June of this year to the results from June of 2016. A current customer is defined as a person who purchased the brand in the past 30 days.
