A new YouGov poll shows what residents of America's 20 most populated metro areas think about their city's nightlife

If you like to roam around at night with friends, shuffling from bars to restaurants to clubs, you might want to look into Miami-Fort Lauderdale. Residents of the South Florida metro area are the most likely group out of America's 20 largest metro areas to consider their city's nightlife "exciting," according to a new YouGov survey.

In total, 30% of Miami-Fort Lauderdale residents picked the word "exciting" to describe the local nightlife. In second place came Chicago (24%), followed by New York (23%) and Houston (21%). At the bottom of the list sit Phoenix, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Seattle-Tacoma.

The residents were instructed to pick as many words as they deemed necessary from a list of adjectives to describe their city's nightlife. They also had the option of choosing "boring," and under this term, Boston came out on top, with 23.9% of its residents using it to describe their area's nightlife. Chicago came in a close second, with 23.6% saying the same. The least likley groups of people to describe their city's nightlife as "boring" were located in Seattle-Tacoma, Detroit, and Portland.

At 35%, residents of San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose were the most likely bunch to describe their nightlife as "expensive." Meanwhile, Portland won for "creepy" (12%) and Houston topped the list with "something for everyone" (40%).
