Over half of Americans find themselves physically attractive

Only 38% care if others agree.

According to the latest data from YouGov’s Omnibus research, most Americans find themselves attractive but say they’re not overly concerned with the opinions of others about their looks. A total 53% of respondents regard themselves as at least somewhat attractive or more. Only 10% find themselves very attractive – and the same amount find themselves not attractive at all.

YouGov also asked respondents how they felt about the opinions of others when it comes to their attractiveness. A total of 56% cared little or none at all about whether others found them physical attractiveness. On one extreme, 10% said they cared a lot; on the other, a quarter didn’t care at all for external reinforcement about their looks.

Despite most respondents saying they cared little or not at all for the opinions of others when it comes to looks, 51% said they had received a comment about their appearance that made their day. Only 20% reported having had their day ruined by a negative comment about their physical appearance.
