Blue Buffalo leads the herd on Word of Mouth

At present, more dog owners report talking about the pet food brand than any of its competitors in the past two weeks

New data from YouGov BrandIndex reveals that Blue Buffalo Pet Products Inc., which plans to report its Q3 2017 earnings next week, currently holds a slight advantage over other pet brands: More dog owners are currently talking with friends and family about the pet food company than Purina, Pedigree, or Kibbles 'n Bits.

Figures show a slight lead for Blue Buffalo on YouGov BrandIndex's Word of Mouth metric, which asks respondents if they can recall discussing a particular brand — whether online or in person — at some point in the past two weeks. Blue Buffalo currently holds a single percentage point advantage over Pedigree. Near the beginning of 2017, dog owners across the country gave Purina a higher Word of Mouth score than any of the other brands.
