The BET Awards are set to take place on Sunday, June 24, and YouGov examined which of the best actor and best actress nominees are most popular with Americans. Denzel Washington was by far the most popular nominee for best actor, with 80% of people reporting that they had a positive opinion of him.
The most popular BET nominee for best actress was Angela Bassett, with 51% of people reporting that they had a positive opinion of her. Very few people held negative opinions about any of the BET award nominees, though at least half of voters said they had never heard of Taraji P. Henson (49%), Lupita Nyong’o (51%), Sterling K. Brown (54%), Tiffany Haddish (55%) and Daniel Kaluuya (61%).
YouGov Ratings does not have data on Donald Glover, but there is data available on Childish Gambino, Glover’s rap persona. Eighteen percent of people have a positive opinion, 12% said they were neutral, 6% said they had a negative opinion and 64% said they had not heard of him.
