The first programme will expand its Horizon Worlds programme and the second will allow creators to sell their virtual items.
Meta announced the launch of two new creator-funding options to better incentivise user contributions to its digital worlds. The first of the two is an expansion of its $10 million Horizon Worlds Creator Funding programme, which the company had set up in October 2021.
Horizon Worlds is the company’s VR sandbox, where creators can build their own immersive experiences. With the expansion, creators will have other means of monetising those efforts and making VR a more engaging element.
Meta will also be launching a pilot programme to enable creators to sell virtual items and effects within their VR worlds. These announcements come alongside Meta’s efforts to provide a 3D scanning option for ecommerce brands.
