2013 season begins with a bang

After a long winter, America's national pastime has finally returned. While the season is just underway, we have already seen several exciting stories.

In Washington, D.C., last year's N.L. Rookie of the Year, the 20 year-old Bryce Harper hit two home runs in the Nationals victory over the Marlins. Harper is the youngest player to ever hit two home runs on opening day.

Over on the West Coast, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw shut out the defending World Champion Giants. To top it off, Kershaw even hit a home run--the first of his career--to break open scoreless game and pave the way for a 4-0 victory.

Kershaw wasn't the only pitcher to make a virtuoso performance. The Mariners' Felix Hernandez shutout the A's, giving him his fourth opening day win in four years against the defending AL West Champs. Hernandez also made headlines when he gave Oakland catcher John Jaso, formerly of the Mariners, a Rolex for catching Hernandez's perfect game last season. Jaso returned the favor by doubling off Hernandez in the fourth inning.
