Sky High Hopes for New Superman

He has approval ratings that politicians could only dream of. On the evidence of the trailer, the new Superman played by Henry Cavill is proving highly popular in all demographic groups.

New YouGov research shows that, when presented with the trailer for the new Superman movie "Man of Steel", people of all ages, regions and political stripes are responding extremely well. 59% of adults predict that Henry Cavill will be a good Superman, while only 5% think he will do a bad job.

It may point to a summer blockbuster.


In terms of competition, it's clear who remains America's favorite. Voters overwhelmingly chose Christopher Reeve – star of Superman I, II, III and IV – as best Superman. 53% chose Christopher with George Reeves coming in a distant second place after only 8% of Americans said he was the best actor in the role.

‘Man of Steel’, the latest instalment of the franchise, is gearing up to be one of the biggest movies of summer 2013 after the new trailer set the internet on fire. The film will show Superman’s backstory, tracing his origins on Krypton and portraying how he comes to terms with his awesome powers.

'Man of Steel' will be released on June 14.
