Americans really are living for the weekend.
A YouGov poll of more than 4,000 US adults finds that among those who have a favorite day of the week, 35% pick Saturday. Friday also tends to fare well, with 29% saying this is their favorite day of the week. Sunday comes in third place, at 14%.
Garfield’s hatred of Mondays may be relatable for many Americans.
Among Americans who have a least favorite day of the week, the most common choice by far is Monday, at 58%. Tuesday comes in at a distant second, with 12% saying this is their least favorite day. Perhaps surprisingly, Sunday comes is the third least popular day, at 9%.

Methodology: 4,241 US adults were asked “What is your favorite day of the week?” and “What is your least favorite day of the week? with response options spanning 7 days, as well as options for “don’t know” and “N/A - I don’t have a favorite day of the week” and “N/A - I don’t have a least favorite day of the week.” The sample has been rebased to only include adults who had a favorite or least favorite day of the week. The survey was conducted between March 9 - 10, 2021. The responding sample is weighted to be representative of the US population.
