Harris beat Pence by 53% to 37% among VP debate viewers

In the latest Yahoo News/YouGov poll, 53% of voters who watched the debate say Kamala Harris won last week’s vice-presidential debate against Mike Pence. Only 37% of viewers believed the Republican to have bested his rival.

Supporters of both Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump were likely to say their candidates’ vice-presidential pick won the debate. Nine in 10 (91%) Biden voters who watched the debate said Harris won, while 92% of Trump voters who watched the debate said Pence won.

Methodology:
This Yahoo News survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 1,505 US registered voters interviewed online from October 9-11, 2020. The sample was weighted according to gender, age, race and education based on the American Community Survey, conducted by the US Bureau of the Census, as well as 2016 presidential vote, registration status, geographic region and news interest. Respondents were selected from YouGov’s opt-in panel to be representative of all US registered voters. The margin of error is 4.3%.
