Ad texts now on Facebook mobile News Feed ads will be limited to only three lines as opposed to seven, as viewable earlier. The aspect ratio for photos and videos will change from 2:3 to 4:5. Susan Wenograd, VP of marketing strategy at Aimclear first revealed the changes. She added that the restrictions will be applied come August 19.
These changes will push marketers to create more engaging Facebook ads. The limited text restriction will force social copy writers to prioritise the copy elements in the message.
The piece adds that the change in image size will “burden” advertisers running large numbers of different ad campaigns. Creatives will automatically be cropped to the 4:5 aspect ratio.
