Facebook is set to remove “thousands” of outdated and rarely used interest targets. These will be taken down from Facebook Ads Interfaces and APIs. New campaigns will not have access to these interest targets.

Advertisers will begin to receive notifications about the targets currently in use by them that are set to be removed, in August. However, the interest targets will be permitted to run for a few more months before notifying advertisers to change them.

Graham Mudd, VP of product marketing for ads at Facebook stated that its highly possible that many advertisers will not notice the removal of the targets. Getting rid of older targets will make interest selection easier for advertisers.
