This article cites a survey which identified a rapid growth in technology adoption rates among older generations. The research states lack of confidence and physical challenges as major reason for older Americans being slow in adapting to new technology and engaging deeply with online content.
The use of social media among Gen X, baby boomers and the silent generation has increased by 10 percentage points. At 86%, the amount of millennials that said they use social media has remained unchanged since 2012.
The findings also reveal an increase in the use of Facebook among the silents from 22% to 37% over four years. Further, 69% of Gen X believe the internet to have a positive impact on society as compared to 80% in 2014.
