By using schema mark-up, a type of HTML specification, brands can augment their product descriptions and get their websites to rank higher. Marketers can use schema mark-up within the existing content of their web pages like reviews, ratings and events.
Brands should add a schema mark-up code generated from Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper, and paste it on their content management system. Once marketers have added the schema mark-up, they should test it for its accuracy on the search engine.
The author contends that by using the Google Structured Data Testing Tool, brands can test their schema mark-up by either the URL or the code. Pasting the URL or the code on the tool provides a preview of product listings on the search engine.
