Facebook is launching a new market research app called Viewpoints, which will compensate users for filling out surveys and undertaking tasks. The app’s terms of service state that partaking users can earn up to $600 annually once they collect a certain number of points.
According to Facebook, the first program it will offer is a “well-being survey”. It adds that the information gathered from this survey will enable them to build better products aimed at limiting “the negative impacts of social media and enhance the benefits. “
The app may require users to complete tasks, demo products or help the company make improvements in its AI technology. This includes recording pronunciation of names to fine-tune its voice recognition or labelling images to improve its image recognition.
