Michael Osborne, CEO of SmarterHQ highlights the 2019 holiday season being six days shorter than due to Thanksgiving occurring later in the year. He notes that brands might be concerned that ‘Black Friday’ promotions may drive consumers to wait for Thanksgiving to pass to cash in those deals.
The study observed retailers like Target and Sam’s Club sending out emails early in the month with deals ending before Black Friday begins. Many businesses were observed pitching promotions for holiday décor, deals, food and gift guides and kids “toy shops”.
