Microsoft is introducing a visual search feature powered by Bing which lets Windows users to search straight from the search bar. It allows users to take full or partial screenshots to look for objects similar to the one in the screenshot.

This format is expected to reduce the friction that comes with traditional visual searches and makes it more “fluid” for Windows users to identify what they are seeing. This tool could also be useful for shoppers trying to find similar products.

The feature can identify landmarks, celebrities, animals, flowers and text within images. It may also result in increasing Bing’s adoption and search volume. Additionally, Microsoft has released an API through which developers can incorporate visual search within their own products.
