Apple’s Siri leads global marketshare for virtual assistants

This article cites a study from Futuresource which revealed that Apple’s Siri commands 35% of global marketshare for virtual assistants. This could be because Siri comes pre-installed on almost all Apple devices.  

Google Assistant comes in at 9% and Amazon Alexa at 4%. 22% of marketshare is held by Microsoft’s Cortana. The report further found that virtual assistant shipments jumped 25% YoY bringing it to 1.1 billion units in 2019.

By 2023, the market is expected to exceed 2.5 billion shipments. Additionally, as per the report, “2020 will be the year when shipments of voice-enabled products overtake those with no voice capability.”
