Instagram prototypes a monetization program for its IGTV creators

Instagram is prototyping a partner program that would allow IGTV video makers to earn money by showing ads along with their videos. While the details of the revenue split procedure are not known, it could potentially work like Facebook Watch, where creators earn 55% of the revenue share. 

Eligible users will have to follow “Partner Program Monetization Policies” before they can monetize their IGTV videos. Instagram, however, said that it is still exploring ways to make the program more sustainable for its creators. 

While there has been no public mention about the monetization program, Instagram says it’s only a prototype and not a feature being tested. The CEO of Instagram Adam Mosseri said that “IGTV is still in its early days, but it’s growing”.
