Fractl surveyed over 900 Americans, with 394 of them being business owners, in the second half of 2019.
Almost one in four business owners and more than two in five nonbusiness owners were not at all or vaguely familiar with SEO. Only 23.7% of respondents knew what SERP stands for, while 59% of people surveyed felt confident that they understood the meaning of “organic search”.
28.7% of business owners have little understanding of how Google determines which search results to show first, while more than half of nonbusiness owners had no or little knowledge. 33.1% of respondents also said they don’t know what is alt text.
