Through a post on Twitter, Google has shared its plan for a new type of schema markup to support special announcements relating to the pandemic on its search results page. While the markup isn’t visible in the search results yet, brands can still add it to their websites.

Companies publishing urgent announcements can use the structured data provided by Google for COVID-19. With Google still in the process of supporting the markup, it is unclear how COVID-19 special announcements will appear on the search results.

Bing announced a similar support markup for COVID-19 related broadcasts last week. This article states Bing launched an interactive COVID-19 tracking map, in addition to adding the shelter-in-place announcement markup on its search engine.
