Google will allow merchants to list their inventory for free on the Google Shopping tab, effective next week. The tech giant has rushed to implement its pre-existing plan of making their listings free to help businesses during coronavirus pandemic.
Research analyst at Baird, Colin Sebastian has said that Google Shopping search results will consist of organic listings derived from product feeds provided by the merchants. The free listings will also accompany paid shopping ads at the top and bottom of Google Shopping pages.
The move will make Google Shopping more accessible to businesses, especially physical stores that have had to shut down during the pandemic. Google has also announced a partnership with PayPal that would allow merchants to link their accounts to speed up the on-boarding process.
