WPP and Kantar released the latest BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Global Retail Brands Ranking.
The report found that the value of the world’s top 75 retail brands grew by 12% in the past year. With the exception of apparel brands Lululemon and Adidas, the fastest riser category has been dominated by pure retail with the demand for essentials giving a push to grocery outlets.
Digitally native brands like Amazon, Alibaba and JD have done well in the rankings. But, traditional retailers like Costco, Target and Walmart have also adapted well to the new internet-led reality.
Brands that have maintained agility, relevance and sensitivity during the pandemic are more likely to better recover from the crisis. For instance, Amazon, that tops the ranking with a brand value of $415.9 billion, has tackled customer demand and reduced its delivery times.
