Consumers’ grocery shopping habits have changed considerably during the lockdown.

The weekly search interest in groceries has increased by an average of 100% since the beginning of lockdown, as compared to the previous years. With changing food habits during the pandemic, search grew in all subcategories like meat and poultry among others.

Search demand for online grocery has increased by over 800% year-on-year over the past 90 days. The sustained demand for products categories like alcohol and staples have gone historically high.

Categories like baking ingredients have also seen search growth as consumers are turning to more home baking activities during the lockdown. Since 40% of consumers said they are doing more home baking, the demand for categories like Easter eggs and ice cream have also suffered.
