Takeaways might be the way out for pandemic-hit restaurant chains.
Dedicated delivery services and food brands with a pre-existing focus on deliveries have seen an increase in the number of customers during the lockdown. While Just Eat saw a 7.9%-point increase on the YouGov BrandIndex purchase intent, Dominos saw a rise of 8.5%-point since the start of March.
Restaurants that are offering deliveries and takeaways have been able to keep their average BrandIndex consideration scores higher than the rest of the sector. McDonald's saw its consideration scores go up, among both the general population and adults worried about catching COVID-19 after the fast-food chain said it will reopen for deliveries.
53% of Britons plan to visit restaurants about the same amount as they did before the COVID-19 pandemic. While 5% said they will visit restaurants more, 29% said they will be patronising restaurants less frequently.
