Facebook and Instagram launch “Shops”, allow users to directly purchase from business’ profiles

Facebook is also partnering with Shopify, BigCommerce, Woo, Channel Advisor, CedCommerce, Cafe24, Tienda Nube and Feedonomics.

Users can now directly browse and purchase products from a business account’s Facebook page and Instagram profile with Shops. The Shops feature will ensure that users can purchase products without leaving the Instagram or Facebook app.

The tool will allow businesses to create a “full-fledged Facebook Shop”. Businesses can set up a free Facebook Shop by uploading the catalogue. Visitors on the page can browse, save, and order products.

Instagram Shop will launch this summer and will be similar to Facebook’s Shop feature. Merchants can use third-party platforms like Shopify to manage their Facebook Shop and related ads. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg says Shops would help businesses suffering due to COVID-19.
