Live-stream viewing has improved 50%, as more users are paying attention to the few sports available during the pandemic.

Facebook has launched a new live event companion tool called “Venue”, which allows users to interact with selected personalities like journalists, athletes, or “fan-analysts”. Users can access commentators’ thoughts and insights, as selected personalities create Venues within the app.

The personalities can also create “Moments” of event streams and fans will be notified whenever new Moments are created, allowing them to check-in on trending discussions. Venues could provide a range of insights on live sporting events as different commentators look at different angles.

NASCAR and Facebook have collaborated for the Venue app, as it is one of the first sports returning amid the pandemic. Facebook had created a similar engagement option called “Sports Stadium” on its main-app in 2016.
