Holiday related searches spike on Pinterest, as consumers hope to celebrate post COVID-19

Pinners are looking towards brands to assist them in maximising their Christmas celebrations.

As consumers look forward to post-COVID-19 celebrations, holiday searches on Pinterest increased 77% YoY in April, especially for Christmas. Searches for “Christmas Gift ideas” increased three times more, as per Pinterest.

Other queries included “holiday recipes” and “Christmas” with 90% and 80% increase in searches respectively. Search terms like “Disney Christmas decorations” and “Christmas party food” was also trending among consumers as they look to recreate some of the travel and restaurant experiences.

Additionally, nearly half of the consumers on Pinterest say they want brands to help them take holidays to the “next level”. Four in 10 consumers on Pinterest wish for brands to help them bond with their loved ones and create special moments with their family this year.
