Over 80 million keywords and “billions of search results” were analysed by Sistrix.
This article cites a study conducted by Sistrix which found that the first organic result on Google Search sees an average click-through rate (CTR) of 28.5%. The study detected a sharp fall in average CTR after position one.
The second position sees a 15% CTR and the third sees an 11% CTR. A CTR of 2.5% is observed at the tenth position. The article adds that a search result in position one with a sitelinks extension could see a CTR of 46.9%.
This could be because Google shows sitelinks when a specific website is searched for. Further, position one on SERPs with knowledge panels sees a CTR of 16%, as the panels may contain the answers the searcher is looking for.
