Searches for “can I travel” and “safe to fly” have increased 800% and 500% YoY respectively on Google.

With new waves of rising COVID-19 cases leading to restrictions, more US adults are “eager for a change of scenery”. Rentals are in high demand, as 64% of US adults working from home say they’d book a nearby vacation rental.

Google searches for “staycations” have gone up 100% over 2019, while “beach rental” and “cabins for rent” were over 100% YoY. As more people seek nature for escape, searches for “hike near me” have also increased 100%.

43% of Americans have reported taking a road trip this year. The AAA anticipates 97% of all trips to be by car this summer. Also, as per Google Maps “gas station open” searches have increased more than 1000% YoY.
