Spotlight will be launching in 11 countries, including the US, UK, France, Germany and Australia.

Snapchat recently announced the launch of Spotlight, a vertical video content format that’s more meme-like and “jokey”. Spotlight looks to rival TikTok and will pay creators to post on the platform.

As per Snapchat, it will set aside $1 million to be shared by the most popular creators on the app per day, by the end of 2020, to prompt creators to post regularly. Users posting Snaps need not have a massive number of subscribers, as the sum received is relative to the number of unique views compared to other Snaps the same day.

Videos could be up to 60 seconds long and can’t be watermarked. Further, Spotlight will not feature a public comments section and profiles will be private by default.
