Publicis Sapient and Google Cloud conducted a survey in collaboration with Ipsos to highlight consumer opinion about data collection and data privacy.

The Data Collection & Consent Survey, which collected opinion of 5000 people across five countries – the US, UK, Australia, France and Germany – found that four in five people on an average say “they know little to nothing about what companies do with the data they collect.”

Around half of respondents feel negative about the data collected about them. But, at the same time, roughly 40% of consumers worldwide felt that their data is worth more than the free services companies provide them in return.

The study further found that consumers want more control over their data like the ability to delete personal information. This article suggests that establishing transparency and communicating clearly about data collection and data privacy can help brands build trust among their audiences.
