The UK mobile gamer market grew significantly in 2020, as more Britons turned towards gaming amidst the pandemic, as per Facebook. With a 50% growth, equivalent to 8.6 million new gamers were added to the market since the COVD-19 pandemic.
As more Britons vie for escapism, gaming hours on Facebook exceeded 1 billion for the first time in Q3 of 2020, compared to 500 million hours in Q4 2019. Puzzle games at 33% were the “go-to” gaming genre, followed by action-oriented games at 12%. Simulations were popular among 9% of Britons.
Further, 28 million new gamers joined the gaming community in the US. Adopting interactive media could provide companies with new marketing opportunities and engage the growing gaming market. Affluent and older demographics also adopted gaming.
