Morning Consult’s survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) revealed Americans’ travel plans for 2021.
The research found 56% of Americans are likely to travel for a vacation in 2021, as many travellers are optimistic about their forthcoming travel plans. To travel again, 48% of consumers will feel increasingly reassured depending on vaccine distribution.
Once the vaccine is available to the general, 11% respondents will feel reassured about staying in a hotel. Moreover, 20% of consumers want most Americans to be vaccinated before they travel again, and 17% will only travel after receiving vaccination. However, 34% reported feeling already comfortable staying in a hotel.
36% will travel more for leisure this year, compared to 2020. With consumers showing optimism for travelling, businesses operating in the leisure, tourism, and hospitality industry would do well to provide adequate health and safety measures.
