SEO Clarity’s recent survey of 1,057 Americans found that 69% are concerned about the data Google collects.
According to the research, when it comes to trust, 65.7% of Americans trust Google the most, and one in five say they will “always” trust Google’s results. Despite this, 29% believe Google is not transparent or clear in its ad listings.
Home address (69%), past and present location (68%), phone numbers (66%), workplace (66%) are the details consumers are most concerned about Google collecting. Amazon (65.1%), Microsoft (63.9%), and Apple (62.6%) are the other trusted tech companies in America.
TikTok at 43% is the most distrusted platform among Americans. Facebook ranked similarly, with 42.6% respondents distrusting it and only 37.8% trusting it. Also, 73% participants believe more regulation is needed of search and social media platforms. Further, 67% consumers want platforms to identify fake content as such.
