CMO Survey polled 356 marketers at for-profit US companies with employee strength of 50 to 10,000.
Optimism among marketers is back and is above the pre-pandemic levels, as 55% of marketers feel more optimistic about the US economy this quarter than the last. 72% said the significance of marketing in their companies has increased during 2020.
Comparatively, in June 2020, 85% of marketers reported feeling less optimistic and only 24% felt more optimistic in February 2019. Website optimisation and digital media and search saw the most digital spending during COVID-19.
Further, 28% of marketers now believe that taking a stand on politics is appropriate, compared to 19% in 2020. Apple was ranked the standard for marketing excellence. Amazon, Microsoft, and Adobe were named as the leaders in the marketing industry.
