Music catalogues from over 250 labels and publishers like Universal Music Group’s labels and publishing companies will be included in Shorts, states YouTube.
YouTube recently introduced a beta version of TikTok-like Shorts for select US users. The video format will appear in the main feed for American users on the YouTube app. Some may have already noticed variations of “Short Videos” shelf in their list.
However, the new format will have a Shorts logo and users can access the Shorts camera including a range of video creation features. Users can access multi-segment camera and stitch video clips together, while adding music, controlling playback speed and more.
Other features like text overlay and access to sample audios from other Shorts clips will be added soon. Shorts first launched in India in 2020, it won’t have direct monetisation options, but YouTube is working on it.
