2,750 journalists and media professionals across 15 countries were surveyed by Cision between 1 February and 1 March 2021.

A recent Cision report revealed that 53% of journalists reported the public having lost trust in the media in the last year. This number was 59% in Cision’s 2020 report. 47% American respondents believe there won’t be a significant change in the public’s trust in press.

Another 36% of journalists believe that under the Biden administration, the public’s trust in media could grow. Further, 47% of respondents are covering over five beats and 33% are filing over 10 stories a week.

28% of respondents reported receiving over 100 PR pitches a week, of which a majority seem to be irrelevant to the reporter receiving it. 68% of participants wish to receive trends and market data from brands and PR professionals.
