The average time spent by Americans on the internet reached extraordinary highs; 155 minutes on mobile and 37 minutes on desktops. Surprisingly, law and government sites saw a record 4300% growth in average traffic growth in 2020.
Sports sites category saw a 2,200% growth while Arts& Entertainment grew by 610%. With employees working remotely and students participating in online classes, Zoom’s traffic increased by almost 1700%.
The pandemic has left a toll on people’s media consumption habits. As they looked for escape and entertainment, streaming service provider HBO Max observed a 15,900% traffic jump. With religious establishments being mostly shut throughout the last year, sites like online churches saw 8000% more visitors.
