The social media site is live testing “Tip Jar” through which users can “tip” content creators on the platform.

Twitter’s live test of the tipping feature is being run on selected user profiles. The feature will allow content creators to collect payments from audiences. Tip Jar is accessible via the cash icon next to the Follow option.

The social platform is not taking a cut from any donations at this stage. Users can choose to support their favourite content creators with tips paid through payment providers like PayPal and Venmo.

The feature is being tested only on accounts of “selected creators, journalists, experts, and nonprofits”. All users using Twitter in English can send tips to eligible accounts. This monetisation option can create a strong revenue stream for top users and boost engagement on the platform.
