80% of employees across the UK, US and Canada believe diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) can improve a company’s reputation with consumers, as per a United Minds report.

While employees consider DE&I to be vital for a company’s reputation, recruitment and profits, nearly 40% of C-Suite leaders think it to be “waste” of time. Further, 34% of employees agree with this view.

However, 57% of staff are “very satisfied” with their company's DE&I efforts, while 31% are uncertain if their company is investing enough in DE&I. 24% of employees who have encountered or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or microaggressions “are considering leaving.”

Of those polled, 79% said a diverse, equitable and inclusive company attracts top employees and 72% say DE&I can boost revenue. Tai Wingfield, EVP, DE&I, of United Minds, a Weber Shandwick consultancy says there is a “substantial and concerning gap between ambition and impact.”
