According to the report, US workers plan to spend $747 on average, on work-related items as they prepare to return to work. Of those polled, 83% of remote working employees who are planning to get back to the office, have purchased or plan on buying something as they return to the office.
Among the items purchased or being planned to purchase, clothes at 59% ranked the highest, followed by shoes (41%), accessories (27%), and new office décor or supplies (16%). The top activities consumers are budgeting for this year are travel (36%), clothing (24%) and dining out (18%).
However, Gen Z and millennials are expecting to go into debt, as 61% of them anticipate borrowing, compared to only 17% of Baby Boomers. Small businesses can leverage the insights to promote campaigns and drive sales.
